The Importance of Understanding the Word of God

John 5:29 - Search the scriptures for in them ye think ye have eternal life.

John 8:32 - Ye shall KNOW the truth and it shall make you free.

Here are three questions of consideration:

  1. 1.Is Bible doctrine important to us today?

  2. 2.Does it really matter what you believe or how you believe on Him?

  3. 3.What does it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?

II Timothy 4:1-4 - Preach the Word and Doctrine. (Please notice word, doctrine, gospel, and truth are synonyms in regard to the scriptures)

I Timothy 4:13-16 - Doctrine will save you and those that hear you.

James 1:21 - The Word is able to save our souls if we receive it.

Matthew 7:24-29 - He who “hears and does” the sayings of Christ is like a man who builds his house upon a rock.

Matthew 16:18 - The word is a solid foundation on which the Church is built upon.

Ephesians 1:19-22 - This solid foundation (Word) is laid by the Prophets and Apostles Ministry (Old and New Testaments).

John 17:20 - Jesus prayed for them that would believe on HIm through the Apostles word.

Hebrews 2:3-4 - The spoken word is confirmed unto us by those that heard Him: the Apostles.

Acts 2:42 - They continued steadfast in the Apostles’ Doctrine.

Beware of False Prophets

Matthew 24:4-5 - Let no man deceive you, many false prophets will come.

Romans 16:17-18 - They deceive hearts by good words and fair speeches.

II Corinthians 11:13-15 - Satan is transformed into an angel of light, as well as his apostles and ministers to deceive souls.

Matthew 7:15 - Wolves in sheep’s clothing. (False Prophets)

Matthew 7:22-23 - Not all that say Lord, Lord will enter in.

Colossians 2:8 - Beware of philosophies, traditions of men, etc.

Galatians 1:6-9 - Let them be accursed that preach any other gospel than that which the Apostles taught.

II Thesalonians 2:9-12 - All who love not or believe not the truth will be damned.

Our greatest defense agains the onslaught of satan and his prophets of today, is to have a love and understanding of God’s Word, the Bible.
